Here you can find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. If you have any further questions or would like more clarification, please don’t hesitate to drop us an email at admin@callofthewild.org.

Is there a minimum/maximum age to apply?

As a ministry, we seek to serve and train university-age students and therefore expect applicants to be at least 18 years of age. There is no upper age limit and we’ve previously had young working adults join our teams! However, we have found that it is in the interests of teams to have participants of a similar age and who are at similar stages of life.

If you are still at college and love the sound of Call of the Wild, or a youth leader looking for mission opportunities for your youth group, check out our sister ministry, Mission Adventures!

How do I join an existing team?

The easiest way to do that is to fill out an application form. (Please note that there is an application fee of £30, which will be put towards the overall cost of the programme.)

If you already have a location in mind, please specify that in your application form. However, if you’re undecided about a location or are open to wherever there’s a need, then feel free to specify that in your application form as well.

I have a group of friends who are interested in going on outreach together. Can I form my own team?

Yes, absolutely. We can provide you with any practical training your team leaders might need and assist in arranging logistics like travel and accommodation. Depending on your intended location, we may also be able to put you in touch with local ministries on the ground.

Do drop us an email to further discuss the specifics.

I’d really love to apply but I’m not a British national/not based in the UK. Can I still apply?

Definitely! We have previously had participants travel to join us from Europe and the US.

Please bear in mind that if you are not a British national, you may need a visa to enter the UK for the training camp and to return thereafter for the celebration. You may also need an additional visa for any of the other countries you visit on outreach. Please contact us if you’re unsure of whether or not you will need to apply for a visa and we can advise you on how to proceed.

Do I need vaccines?

This would depend on which vaccines you currently have and which country you will be travelling to.

We strongly recommend that, as soon as you have been accepted to join us for the summer, you visit your doctor or a travel nurse to explain where you will be travelling to and to follow any medical advice you are given.

What kind of travel insurance do i need?

A comprehensive travel insurance policy which includes repatriation and a minimum of £1 million liability coverage. We recommend that you book your insurance for a minimum of 2 days after your scheduled return flight to cover any unexpected travel delays.
